POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Technician I is responsible for preparing, processing, and evaluating laboratory samples as
per established procedures to meet customer’s expectations for different markets.
2.0 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop powder coatings using established templates under direct supervision of a Chemist
/Group Leader or Lab Supervisor
• Work in an efficient way to meet customer expectations.
• Maintain a laboratory notebook and formula records as needed.
• Weight up and blend raw materials per written formula with strong attention to material
identification, weights, and conditions of the blend.
• As needed, extrude, mill, sieve, apply and bake powder coatings with attention to equipment
settings and safety protocols.
• Use all lab equipment to test and evaluate powder coatings.
• Perform coating characterization tests as per established SOPs and internal procedures.
• Maintain work area and equipment in good working conditions.
• Other duties as required by supervisor.
• Some administrative tasks will be necessary to support the laboratory.
3.0 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities for this position.
4.0 POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY
This individual will be expected to work in a group environment under the supervision of a team
leader. He/she will be expected to use good judgment, and ethical decision-making abilities when
testing and reporting data obtained during laboratory testing.
5.0 QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to operate machinery.
• Must be able to comply with all company Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
6.0 TRAVEL
No travel requirement for this position
6.1 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma is a must.
• Have a very good understanding of percent, conversion units and basic arithmetic is needed.
• Associate Degree is a plus.
• Organizational skills essential
• Laboratory and/or coatings experience is a plus.
• Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team or under direct
supervision is essential.

The employee must be able to communicate clearly with others and must be physically able to
stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, and kneel. The employee must be able to occasionally lift or
move up to approximately 25 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close and
